"I can't tell you how blessed I feel, how much I appreciate, growing up with all of you, and I can confidently say I am proud to be a part of the Class of 2012. I am proud to call every one of you a member of my class. We have been in of each other's lives for the past three, six, and for some, eighteen, years. And today, in one single day, we finally move on. High school is not without its mistakes, and I don’t think it ever should be any different. There are things that we may regret, or wish we had done differently, but it’s these mistakes that have shaped us into the people I see standing in front of me today. We will remember what have learned in this time, and use what we know to create the rest of our lives."

Twelve years ago we were those silly little kindergartens, who were afraid of colouring outside of the lines and being called down to the principal’s office. I do not know about the rest of you, but I am scared. All that time wishing we could grow up, and now, we finally have. From now on, our memories and experiences will not necessarily be with each other, but with new friends we will make along the way. To the graduating class of 2012, as you walk off the stage and start a new chapter in your life, just remember, “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”"

"Fellow grads, our horizons are bright, let us not squander them by getting lost along the way. Ultimately, the work ethic you’ve shown here in the last 12 years must continue on. All of you have the capacity to not only find your passion, but to also make a living doing it. With that, graduates, I would wish you good luck and a safe summer. To the rest of you here who’ve brought us so far already, we thank you. To the world I say, our grad class is ready to compete with anybody and anything it would throw at us, because this is what we have done, this is what we are doing and this is what we are going to do! Thank you!"

Graduation is a time to reflect on the past and cherish the memories we have made together, as well as look forward to the good times to come in our future.

Along with the academics, school has also been a great part of our social lives. We have developed special bonds with one another, ones stronger than any chemical bond known to man! These bonds of friendship grew from trust, respect and great times spent together!

I believe in each and every person in this class and I know we will all achieve our goals in life! For our futures, I hope everyone follows their dreams and succeeds in being happy and having fun!

Fernie Secondary School Class Valedictorian 2011

- Chase Henze

CHASE

"Graduation. To some this is a rite of passage into the world, to others a happy breath they can finally let out, and to some the first major step toward many great legacies. Nevertheless it is a fantastic time. We have come through twelve years of school, thirteen including kindergarten, to arrive at this moment.
To all my fellow graduates, I wish you good fortunes on your journeys into the world of independence. And I hope that you do paint your canvas with the colors & techniques of experience, you do walk the road your feet take you to, you do bring about a masterpiece of your own design, and, above all, you let yourself be happy. Congratulations!"

Elford Secondary School Class Valedictorian 2011

- Emily Betts

ESS GRAD

"I would like to start by saying that I am deeply honoured to have been selected as this year`s valedictorian. I realize that there are others capable of undertaking this honour, and I hope that they will be pleased with my efforts on their behalf. I would also like to take this time to thank all who have helped us reach this point in our lives.
No matter where we end up or how old we may grow, we will always encounter challenges. Our class has always been a little headstrong, and sometimes downright stubborn. I can think of no one I would rather have defending me than these young adults sitting right here. I pity anyone who wishes to oppose them - you have another thing coming.
In closing, I have these words of advice for my fellow students. This chapter of our lives may have ended, but the story has just begun. Make the most of it and live life like there’s no tomorrow. I am confident that the Class of 2011 will take the world by storm."

Sparwood Secondary School 2011 Class Valedictorian

- Alicia Matt

sss grad

“Good Evening ladies and gentlemen, distinguished faculty of Sparwood Secondary, administrators, family, friends and of course the stunningly gorgeous class of 2011!!!  First off, I would like to thank the grad class for bestowing this honor upon me to speak to you here tonight as your valedictorian.

We are all gathered here on this special evening to celebrate one of life’s rare occasions.  We are here to celebrate graduation, but with this comes the unique experience of celebrating both an end and a beginning.  The end of a very significant phase of life, one which I have been told is the best phase of life.

Teachers, you truly are an amazing breed of humans.  We will never forget the life lessons you have taught us.

Where would we be without friends?  The memories, the laughs, the shenanigans, the truth or dare, the fights, the forgiveness and love.  Without each other we would not have had the time of our lives.

To the graduating class of 2011, enjoy the rest of your evening, your future, and thank-you for the memorable past we will never forget.”...Alicia Matt
