ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Welcome
Welcome
On behalf of our entire staff, we would like to welcome you to Highlands Elementary School. Highlands, opened in 1977, has approximately 270 students and 40 staff members. Our school offers a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. With a strong sense of community, we foster mutual respect, collaboration, and a love for learning. Our dedicated staff create a safe and nurturing space that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and positive relationships. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in extracurricular activities, students are encouraged to explore their potential and become confident, compassionate individuals. We strive for our students to be safe, kind, respectful and responsible members of our school community.
We offer a variety of supports provided by our Counsellor, Learning Services Teachers, Indigenous Education Support Worker, Youth Care Worker, Speech and Language Pathologist, and various Education Assistants. We offer community supports within the school provided by Therapeutic Paws of Canada, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and the Salvation Army Lunch Program. If you have questions or concerns about your child's learning, which can include physical, social, emotional, or academic concerns, please reach out to your classroom teacher who can guide you to the appropriate person for support.
