The Canada 150 tulip, the official tulip of Canada's 150 anniversary was planted in Fernie's eco-garden today. Bulbs were gifted from the Netherlands to community gardens across Canada for the sesquicentennial celebrations next spring. During "Take Me Outside Day," IDES kindergarten students were serendipitiously walking by the eco-garden when they were kindly invited by Dawn Deydey (eco-garden founder) and a group of eco-garden volunteers to join them in planting tulip bulbs. Each student was able to plant one of 1,400 bulbs that will bloom red and white in spring 2017. Amazing natural moments happen when we go outside!
