Our program is also an opportunity for Canadian students to meet and get to know international students.
All students are covered throughout their stay with our program by the standard medical insurance plan.
Families in Cranbrook, Fernie & Sparwood should host one or two international students in their home.
Students should contact an international education agent in their home country.
Ski and snowboard are very popular sports with our international students!
About 40 international students attend Mount Baker.
International students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 attend either Laurie Middle School or Parkland Middle School.
The school has a population of about 400 students including 12 international students.
Sparwood Secondary School is a brand new school opened in September, 2008.
Elkford Secondary School has an enrolment of about 200 students in Grades 7 to 12.
The City of Cranbrook is the main city in our region servicing a surrounding population of about 45,000.
The City of Fernie is located in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
The City of Sparwood has a population of 4,500.
The City of Elkford has a population of just under 3,000 people and is located in a spectacular mountain valley.
The Southeast Kootenay School District is located in the spectacular Canadian Rocky Mountains in the Province of British Columbia and includes the cities of Cranbrook, Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford. Our students fly into the Cranbrook International Airport from either Vancouver or Calgary. Calgary is our closest big city and is about a four-hour drive from Cranbrook.
