College of the Rockies Tour

April 24, 2026

On Thursday, April 23, grade nine students from Parkland Middle School and Laurie Middle School visited the College Of The Rockies (COTR). Students toured the trades buildings, the East Kootenay Teacher Education Program (EKTEP), visited the Dental Assistant Program, and got hands on learning in the Nursing Sciences. Students, elders, and staff were very impressed with variety of programs offered, supports, and technology. Thank you Elders Dorothy and Mel Ratch for supporting the students on this tour.

After the tour, students enjoyed a pizza lunch with Elders Pete and Dolly Andrew, and participated in mini drum making in The Place Where People Gather. Indigenous Education from Parkland and Laurie are coordinating with College Of The Rockies staff to make this an annual event.
