Mathletics

All Sparwood Secondary junior students (Grades 7-9) can have their own unique login for Mathletics by contacting Mrs. Hay. Mathletics provides support and challenge to make sure each student achieves their best. Mathletics is designed for students from ages 5–16 and allows them to become motivated, confident, and successful  learners with improved test results.


UN Free Rice

UN Free Rice

Sparwood Secondary Group Code: U3QL398H With UN Free Rice, every correct answer is matched with a donation of 10 grains of rice.

Students can work on basic pre-algebra skills aligned with Grade 7-9 curriculum. The questions start with elementary-level questions and increase in difficulty with correct answers.


Fact Monster

Fact Monster

Fact Monster provides free flash card decks that challenge basic arithmetic skills in a time trial. Practice with fundamental multiplication and division skills is one of the best possible ways to spend study time, and flash cards are known to be particularly effective in improving fluency with the basic facts.


Khan Academy

Khan Academy

Khan Academy offers full courses in important math topics, free of charge, backed with quizzes and video lectures. It's a great choice for older students (grade 10-12) looking to supplement their course material.


Geogebra Tutorials

Geogebra Tutorials

Geogebra Tutorials has excellent resources for students in grades 10-12 looking to enhance their learning with digital tools. Mastering computational math on Geogebra will set a student up for success in their pre-calculus courses and beyond.

CEMC at Home

CEMC at Home was developed to support teachers, students, and parents by conducting materials at each of four grade levels: Grades 4-6, Grades 7-8, Grades 9-10, and Grades 11-12. CEMC at Home provides a variety of fun and educational ways to do mathematics and computer science from home. The resources include games, new problems to solve, apps, videos, tips, and more. Each grade level has 13 weeks worth of content for students to work through.


Prodigy

Prodigy

Prodigy is a fully "gamified" approach to learning math. The goal of the game's creators is to seriously compete with other video games for your learner's attention. Prodigy costs $10/mo (USD), but for parents who want to spend at least an hour a week sitting with their learner and practicing math, it can make the overall experience considerably more enjoyable for everyone.


IXL Canada

IXL Canada

IXL is a more traditional learning program which uses quizzes to identify and close gaps in learning. IXL costs $13/mo (CAD), but you're paying for a substantial amount of content. It's a program uniquely suited to families looking to hold learners accountable to regular online study sessions.

Youcubed seeks to inspire, educate, and empower teachers of mathematics by transforming the latest research in math into accessible and practical forms. The Apps & Games Archive features several ways for students to build numeracy and math fluency.
