New K–9 Full-Time Students
For families interested in full-time K–9 online learning or blended learning through KDS. K–9 learning operates from September to June and includes teacher support, learning plan meetings, regular communication, and formal reporting.
K–3 students learn through home-based, hands-on activities with teacher support. Some students may also participate in blended learning where space is available. Grades 4–9 students access learning through Brightspace, our secure online learning platform, with support from a BC-certified teacher.
Note: K–9 blended programs may have limited capacity. Online programs may continue to have space available, but mid-year transfers should be discussed in advance and proceed with the approval of the student’s home school.
New Grades 10–12 Full-Time Students
For students who plan to complete a full course load or graduation program through KDS. Grades 10–12 students access courses through Brightspace and are supported by BC-certified teachers.
High school courses are flexible and self-paced, while still requiring regular engagement, teacher assessment, and completion of required provincial assessments such as Literacy and Numeracy assessments.
Register for Cross-Enrollment
Students in Grades 8–12 may be eligible to take a Grade 10–12 course through KDS while remaining enrolled at their current school. Cross-enrolment may help students access a course not offered at their school, create flexibility in their schedule, explore a specialized subject, upgrade a course, or support their graduation plan.
Students may not be enrolled in the same course at two schools at the same time.
Adult Learners
KDS supports adult learners who are working toward graduation or upgrading for employment or post-secondary purposes.
Non-graduated adult learners may work toward the BC Dogwood Diploma or the Adult Graduation Diploma. Graduated adult learners may be eligible to take select tuition-free courses, as determined by the BC Ministry of Education.
