Courses Taught by SD5 Teachers

At Kootenay Discovery School (KDS), all courses are taught by certified, experienced School District 5 (SD5) teachers who specialize in online learning. Our teachers are committed to student success and are available via Brightspace, email, or video calls to provide guidance and assess learning.

Courses Approved by the BC Ministry of Education

KDS is a BC public school, and all of our courses are approved by the BC Ministry of Education. KDS courses count toward the British Columbia Dogwood Diploma or the Adult Graduation Certificate. Our online learning program includes both elementary and secondary offerings, with a wide range of high school courses available to support graduation and post-secondary planning.

To register for a course as a first-time KDS student, please complete the KDS Registration Form. 

Retaking a Course at KDS

Students who have completed a course (either at KDS, or at another high school) and received a final mark may re-register at any time to upgrade their grade.

If a student withdraws from a course—either voluntarily or due to inactivity—and wishes to re-register in the same course, they must wait at least 9 months from the original start date.

To request a course, please complete the KDS Course Request Form.

To withdraw from a course voluntarily, please complete the KDS Student-initiated Withdrawal Request Form.
