School District No. 5 Southeast Kootenay welcomes families and students to our School District. We accept applications from residents in the City of Cranbrook, Jaffray, South Country, Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford. School District 5 has 11 elementary, two middle schools, four secondary schools, a K-10 school and an alternate education facility.
βWhere to Register:
The Board of School Trustees believes that it is desirable, whenever practicable, for students to attend their neighbourhood schools. Eligibility for student registration, enrolment and placement are subject to the terms set out in the School Act and the School District Administrative Procedures. The Board encourages students to attend their local Catchment Area schools while recognizing the desirability of students and parents choosing the school and educational programs that best meet their educational needs. The placement of a student in a school will depend upon the availability of space, programs and resources. Please use the School Locator to determine your catchment school.
